ACFM Operator – Electronics (Milton Keynes office)

Position, Purpose and Scope

Based in Milton Keynes, this position is to take a leading role in supporting the electronics and mechanical design activity within the Service Team of TSC. The aim of the role is to design, develop and maintain equipment to deploy TSC’s innovative electromagnetic inspection technologies. This will include scanners, crawlers, drives, sensors and actuators. The role also involves taking these systems offshore and performing inspections with them for major oil, gas and energy producers.. Whilst offshore you will be responsible for the maintenance repair and modification of the electronics systems and will provide training for others in the proper use of our systems.

Position Relationships

This position reports to the SE&O Director and interfaces with the service engineers, design engineers, software engineers and project managers. While on site the role interfaces with divers, ROV pilots, inspection engineers and client representatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Maintain to a high standard TSC’s electronics systems for service inspection work
  • Train other operators in the maintenance and correct use of TSC’s electronics systems
  • Produce Technical documents and operating manuals for service inspection systems
  • Analyze client drawings and work scopes to determine deployment requirements
  • Produce detailed electronic or mechanical designs
  • Produce initial prototypes
  • Support the testing of new design prototypes
  • Conduct inspections using the systems on onshore and offshore installations and vessels
  • Produce high quality written project reports
  • Contribute to appropriate design review meetings
  • Document the design process and findings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards
  • Research and investigate new deployment components and technologies
  • Contribute towards the innovation culture within TSC
  • Keep personal education and training certification up to date in line with current requirements
  • Other duties may be required as advised by you line manager

Knowledge & Skills Required for Position

  • 2:1 or better degree in electronics, or similar engineering discipline
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Keen to succeed in a design, development and inspection projects
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Capable and willing to work periodically in an offshore environment. Approx.. 80 days offshore working is required.  Offshore oil and gas experience would be valuable but TSC will provide all appropriate offshore training when required.
  • Experience with motor controllers, drives and actuators an advantage
  • Knowledge of common components and design processes
  • Ability to use MS Office products including Excel and Word
